Download entire websites in one go

In the days before broadband, I would often painstakingly save pages from a website one-by-one until I was offline so I could read them at my own leisure without worrying about clocking up my parents phone bill.

Nowadays of course, especially with WiFi hotspots everywhere, that’s not so necessary although there are always times – like reading on a plane or other modes of transport when it would be useful to be able tor read content offline. That’s the aim of Web Dumper which lets you download entire web sites off of the Internet, and save them on your hard drive for later offline browsing. Web Dumper does it in such a way however that all links and file structures are kept in tact so it’s just like browsing a site as if you were online.

Web Dumper automatically downloads HTML documents along with their embedded pictures, sounds, movies etc. As you can imagine, for sites that are contain huge media files, this can take a rather long time. In fact, waiting around for your sites to download is the most annoying thing about Web Dumper but with pages containing so much content nowadays, it can be forgiven for that. Using it couldn’t be easier though. After installation, you’re asked whether you want to buy a full license but you can continue with the demo for free. You have an address bar where you’re prompted to enter any web address.

Once entered, you can choose whether you only want to download that page or the whole website. In addition, via the preferences you can configure what type of media you’d like to include or exclude which prevents the annoying problem of having to wait ages for media to download. You can also line up sites in batches to download automatically while you get on with more important things.

Web Dumper is an excellent tool for anyone that wants a no fuss website downloader to read content offline.
