One-finger racing on your iPhone
Touch Racing Nitro is a top-down 3D racing game with an innovative control system.
While there are plenty of 3D racing games for the iPhone, most racing fans will find the experience much worse than on games consoles, simply because of the controls. Touch Racing Nitro, with its top-down view, actually plays to the iPhone’s strengths.
One thing is certain about Touch Racing Nitro – the controls will feel strange to begin with. However, during the tutorial the one finger control will click, and start to feel pretty natural. Touch Racing Nitro has two game modes, Time Trial and Tournament. There are three, six-track tournaments, with indoor buggies, off road trucks and high speed racers. The tournaments are long, and pretty challenging.
Touch Racing Nitro’s three difficulty levels really make a difference. Once you’ve nailed beginner mode, the other two levels make the controls more subtle, which really ramps up the challenge. Some people may find the harder controls too fiddly, and it’s a shame there aren’t control options.
Graphically Touch Racing Nitro is cheerful, but nothing to write home about. However, everything moves smoothly, and it’s a pretty fast racing game. While there is no multiplayer, the 18 courses are generous.
While Touch Racing Nitro is a fun racer, with interesting controls and lots of tracks, it can’t compete with the newer Reckless Racing
