Establish your own settlement
The Walking Dead: Survivors is a free strategy mobile video game wherein you have to stay alive and find other people. Developed by Elex, this survival strategy horror title is one of the many games based on the popular zombie apocalypse media franchise, The Walking Dead. Here, you play as one of the many survivors of the new zombie-overrun world. It’s officially licensed by the creator of the series and showcases several character cameos.
Manage a ragtag group
The Walking Dead is a 2003 American post-apocalyptic comic book series that tells the dramatic story of a large group of survivors of a zombie apocalypse—who, initially, were strangers to each other but eventually formed a close bond as they tried to stay alive one day at a time. However, they have to contend with other survivors, as well, due to the scarcity of resources. It eventually got its own TV series adaption.
The popularity of the series also spawned a lot of other media based on it and one of these is The Walking Dead: Survivors. Its gameplay is similar to most of the other zombie survival games: gather resources, fix useful items or locations, welcome other survivors, and expand your base—all the while fighting off the horrific zombie Walkers. What’s different here is that there are story chapters involved and you control the whole cast of characters.
The actions you can assign to your survivors are timed, so the more you progress, the longer activities will take—just like in an idle game. The gameplay mechanics are easy enough to grasp. You can also team up with other players in Clans. Compared to other TWD games, however, this one doesn’t give you the drama of making risky choices. It’s mostly all about resource management and keeping your characters in tip-top shape.
Keep your settlement safe
All in all, The Walking Dead: Survivors is a nice mobile game addition to this popular franchise but it’s not the most stellar. It has good resource management gameplay but that makes it far too similar to other zombie survival mobile games like State of Survival. If you prefer to dive into the series’ lore, this isn’t a good option. However, this is still a recommended title to try out if you like this genre.
