Mobile stargazing app

SkyView Lite is a free mobile reference app that takes stargazing to the next level. This software allows users to identify stars, constellations, planets, and even satellites using their smartphones. It comes with an augmented reality feature that spots objects in space. Additionally, it provides information about the heavenly bodies you see on your phone. However, the app is known for sometimes providing inaccurate information to its users.

What is the SkyView Lite app?

SkyView Lite is an astronomy app that lets users stargaze using their phones. Using the app is easy. Upon launching, you only need to point your camera towards the sky, and the app will instantly identify space objects, such as stars, planets, and constellations. It can also identify satellites, such as the Hubble and the International Space Station. The app even provides information about outer space. You only need to tap the element you see on your screen to display data.

Aside from space exploration, the app also comes with a time travel feature. With this, you will be able to see the line that any object follows in space. Moreover, you can see the position of these objects at a given time. The app uses augmented reality, allowing you to spot objects in the sky, whether it’s night or day. It also has a night mode, with red and green filters that let you preserve your night vision.

The app works offline, so you don’t need WiFi or mobile data. With this, you can still use the app even if the area has no connectivity. However, as mentioned, there are times that the app provides wrong information, especially in the stars’ position. Sometimes, it locates the star in the wrong area of the sky. Moreover, it sometimes fails to locate any space object.

Stargazing made easy

Overall, SkyView Lite is an interesting and educational science app. It has simple features that make stargazing easy and fun. Its great design displays planets and stars beautifully, and its extensive library informs its users. However, the developers need to improve this information as its inaccuracy can leave users misinformed
