A Fine News App For A Modern, Plugged-In Detroit
Detroit Free Press now offers its own app providing local news to the citizens of Detroit and elsewhere. In this it’s partnered with the rest of the USA Today network, allowing one to also view, and subscribe to, up to four other properties with the app! But if you’re not interested in that, you’ll at least find local news that isn’t covered anywhere else, plus a few features that make this news app more than just a pretty interface…
Detroit’s News, Pushed To Your Phone
A major feature of Detroit Free Press is push notifications. You can select whether you want news delivered to the top bar notifications of your phone or not, in more recent operating systems, this means seeing it on your home screen! The filters for this are not amazing but they are acceptable, and this is a great way to keep up with the news and have a virtual ‘newspaper’ of sorts.
Clear Head, Clear News
There’s just one thing to keep in mind here: between news, videos, editorials and more from many different sources, you might find Detroit Free Press a little overwhelming. It’s important, especially given that you can have all of this news delivered right to your virtual doorstep, to tweak your settings carefully and avoid getting distracted or distraught by the sheer quantity of news this app makes available. If you can do that, it’s a great read.
