Companion app for ChargePoint stations
ChargePoint is a free navigation app for mobile coming from ChargePoint Inc. It’s the company’s official companion app that helps users locate and navigate to its various charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) spread throughout multiple countries. It can also be used to start charging by tapping their smartphones directly to scanning areas.
Much like Lidl eCharge or Kazam EV Charging, ChargePoint makes it easy for EV owners to stay charged throughout their travels. It provides a detailed and interactive map view to locate stations most convenient to them. It even shows the remaining charging capacity for each location.
A charging station near you
Electric vehicles, or EVs, are the stuff of dreams come true. The budding technology has made its way to mainstream appeal and adoption, with EV-specific variants and hybrids coming out from car manufacturers. That said, the charging infrastructures are still limited, with ChargePoint leading the way. With the company’s official companion app, locating charging stations has become much easier and more convenient.
ChargePoint currently handles operations in 14 countries, with over 600,000 charging stations with its partners, FLO, EVgo, Greenlots, and EV Connect. A map view lets you see charge points near you and shows charging capacity in real-time. You can opt to be waitlisted and be notified when a bay becomes vacant. Once there, tap your card or smartphone on the scanning area to begin topping up.
The app has widgets for glanceable information for your home screen and integration with Android Auto and Wear OS. You can even avail of a 240-volt Level 2 home charger that delivers up to 50 amps of power with the ChargePoint Home Flex program. Now, while the map view is handy, it doesn’t always work as it should, since it sometimes provides inaccurate information on some locations.
No more battery anxiety
Simply put, the ChargePoint app is pretty much a must-have for any EV owner who lives where the service is available. It makes locating charging stations near you a whole lot easier and the option to get waitlisted will be handy in certain situations. The option to use it with Android Auto and Wear OS is a nice bonus. Give it a try and see for yourself.
