A free app for Indian offline sellers
BharatPe for Merchants is a free finance mobile app that allows you to easily handle business transactions. Developed by BharatPe, this mobile app is an all-in-one business platform for sellers and shop owners who don’t often operate online. It lets you accept customer payments for free and even take loans whenever you need them. Do take note though that this app and its services are only available in India.
What is BharatPe Merchant?
BharatPe is an Indian financial technology company that specializes in UPI (Unified Payments Interface) payments and digital money-lending for merchants. It aims to make payment acceptance simple by offering merchants a single interface for all UPI apps. Take note that it doesn’t offer a digital wallet service; it is exclusively designed for business owners, retailers, and offline sellers to be a payment platform where they can receive money from their customers.
As such, the BharatPe for Merchants app aims to make these transactions as easy as possible. Its main features include accepting payments at no transactional cost via the app, allowing loans at competitive rates with no collateral or guarantees required, and accepting credit and debit card payments without any charges. In addition to all of that, it also lets you track payments via SMS and notifications, send money to accounts, and even pay utility bills.
Unfortunately, this mobile app is riddled with so many issues that its performance is disappointing for its intended purpose. Most of the problems you’ll encounter are failures in transactions—which is a serious problem, regardless of how much the payment is. The integration with the BharatPe Card Machine or BharatSwipe doesn’t often work too. Customer support doesn’t seem to be attentive either and you will frequently find yourself being redirected to pre-recorded messages.
Needs a lot of work
All in all, BharatPe for Merchants is a nice app on paper but its actual performance leaves much to be desired. It is supposed to make financial transactions for sellers much easier but, ultimately, does the opposite—and even potentially endangers both the seller and the customer to a certain extent. At this rate, you might as well just use other apps, such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and BHIM, that offer a more robust and safer payment platform.
