Enjoy virtual golf in this demo game

exVRience Golf Club Demo is a free sports video game wherein you can enjoy the challenges of golf in virtual reality. Developed by exvrience, this VR indie game allows you to play golf on the Oculus Quest and other supported VR headsets with full 6DoF (6 Degrees of Freedom) movement.

Similar to The Golf Club, exVRience Golf Club features a realistic golf course and real hands-on golfing experience using the power of VR. However, while this demo at least showcases some of the gameplay, you still require SideQuest to be able to install it.

Get a taste for the sport

In the full version of exVRience Golf Club, you can play a full 18-hole round of golf at the customed-designed map of the Cave Lakes. There’s a 9-hole Moon Chip Challenge course and other challenges to take on at the 6 Escape locations like the Beach, Space, Moon, Driving Range, Cliff, and Alpine. Exploring the areas is also pretty easy thanks to the helicopter and the ability to freely fly.

In terms of gameplay, there are several mechanics you’ll be using. The physics of the ball greatly enhances the experience—letting you execute techniques like Draw, Fade, and Backspin. There’s a Controller Measurement System that shows the distance and club required. You can also see the statistics and adjust the speed and type of club you’ll use. Plus, you can track the ball via live satellite view.

Aside from that, there’s a Playground Mode and a Pro Mode available to adjust your difficulty. The game also lets you save your progress and supports two players on local headsets. However, you’ll need SideQuest in order to even play this demo as it’s not being offered on the official Oculus website where the full version can be found. All features are available here but only the first hole is playable.

Enough to demonstrate

All in all, exVRience Golf Club Demo is a nice sampler for what you can expect from the full game. While it only features the first hole and is entirely dependent on another program, it’s still a great showcase of features that golf fans can appreciate. If you like trying out this sport in virtual reality—with hardly any limitations in your movement—then this is a highly recommended demo.
