Pro-grade video camera app
Cinema FV-5 is a premium video application for mobile devices coming from developer FGAE Apps. It is a videography-centric camera app that provides users with professional-grade features that they can use for daily video shooting activities and requirements. It boasts an intuitive user interface that provides plenty of options to configure to their liking.
Compared to other solutions like Manual Camera : DSLR Camera Professional or 4K Camera Filmmaker Pro Camera Movie Recorder, Cinema FV-5 caters more to users who are looking for the most feature-rich and adaptable camera app for a variety of situations and scenes.
Shoot like a pro
Smartphone cameras have become quite capable that it’s hard to take a bad photo. From the hardware to the software processing, you can take a nice photo with minimal effort. However, the same can’t be said for video recording as results still often look subpar. One way to work around this is to use a camera app focusing on video capture, and Cinema FV-5 is one example.
This app looks like any other camera app you’ve used before. Where others aim to offer a clean and minimal UI that gets out of your way, it goes the opposite direction and puts everything front and center for easy access. The bottom row of icons houses toggles and sliders to adjust ISO, white balance, focus, and the like, all configurable on the spot.
The settings window offers more options to configure, including changing video bitrate, format, and resolution up to 4K. You can even change the audio source if you’ll use a mic accessory for better sound. Having said all that, the experience itself leaves a lot to be desired. Navigation is slow, it constantly hunts for focus, and video playback has a delay at the beginning.
Lackluster performance
To conclude, Cinema FV-5 has a lot going for it, with the amount of features and options it provides. However, none of them will be of actual use if the app itself is unstable and unreliable. From the things mentioned above, there is a lot of work that needs to be done to improve the experience. Until then, you’re better off looking elsewhere.
