Not The Best Video Streamer Around
YuppTV – LiveTV, Catch-up, Movies is a lifestyle online video streaming program that lets you watch South Asian channels anytime, anywhere. It offers live TV, catch-up TV, and unlimited movies for various devices in 15 languages, most of which are South Asian.
Convenient TV Provider
YuppTV is an over-the-top content provider—over-the-top meaning it distributes streaming media as a standalone product directly to viewers over the Internet. This type of content provider bypasses telecommunications, multichannel television, and broadcast television platforms that are usually the controllers or distributors of these kinds of media content, so they can reach their target audiences better. As an online streaming site and program, YuppTV allows you to access global channels and shows—specifically those from South Asia such as Bollywood and regional shows—without having to scour for them in TV channels or other websites. It offers 300+ TV channels in 15 languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Oriya, Gujarati, Sinhalese, Bangla, Nepali, Urdu and English. Like other streaming apps, YuppTV lets you connect to your other devices like smartphones and tablets, but it also lets you keep up-to-date with missed shows. You can watch live TV with this program or use its Catch-up TV feature, wherein if you miss a show, you can still watch it till next 10 days at your own convenience.
A Cop-Out
Unfortunately, while it promises a lot, YuppTV seems to lack much for its users. Video streaming programs will often vary depending on the kind of content they provide and how much they provide of it. To keep up with competitors, they need to be able to give services that are either currently trending or in top demand. One of YuppTV’s supposed strengths is its unlimited movies from South Asia, which aren’t easily found compared to English movies. These movies can actually have international viewers itching to try them and YuppTV advertises that it can provide for what they need. Its Indian television channels and shows are also pretty popular and comprise the bulk of YuppTV’s offered channels. However, while it’s not totally unusable by most viewers, YuppTV disappoints by a large margin. The app is constantly playing ads that you can’t skip—ads that even the subscribers who paid for premium access are getting. Much of the shows it promises aren’t available or can’t be watched. The live streaming is always buffering so slow. Even when it promises sports match streams, it won’t show the whole program. YuppTV also won’t offer new channels or shows in its line-up, for some reason. It’s hard to get any reply when you give them feedback or ask for help. As an online streaming app, it’s quite lackluster.
Other Options
If you’re looking for a reliable video streaming app, YuppTV is not what you need. Some are satisfied with its services but compared to the big names in this industry and other smaller names, you’re better off finding other apps to sate your South Asian TV fix.
