Step Inside The Ring
WWE 2K20 is a professional wrestling simulation video game adapted from the real-life WWE competitions. Developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports, this game is the 21st title in the WWE game series—7th for the WWE 2K banner—and the successor to WWE 2K19. WWE 2K20 features old and new faces and continues on with the successful main story campaign feature, MyCAREER, with a brand-new focus.
From Shows to Games
WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment, is an American media company that is mostly known for professional wrestling. It is the largest wrestling promotion in the world, but the shows it hosts aren’t real competitions. They are purely sports entertainment, having storylines, scripts, and choreographed matches that may sometimes include risky combat moves. Either way, though, WWE has gained a large following despite the theatrics and has even produced wrestling video games based on its large roster of wrestlers over the years. Some are focused on the different types of competitions WWE has, like Raw, SmackDown, Tag Team, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble, and WrestleMania. Others, like the WWE 2K series, combines most of these into various features, similar to how the NBA 2K series operates.
The Next Challenger
In WWE 2K20, you get to step inside the squared circle of WWE’s grand stage once again. All your favorite WWE Superstars—from the devastating Divas and the eager NXT’s Best to the awesome Legends and the sacred Hall of Famers—come back into the ring for you to play as. WWE 2K20 improves upon WWE 2K19’s design, with gameplay upgrades, streamlined controls, and a brand-new 2K Showcase about the Four Horsewomen. First shown in 2K19, 2K Towers mode returns to this title, in which you must battle your way against several Superstars in one run to get to the top. Not only that but MyCAREER also gets a nice reboot wherein you can play either a male or a female character. The Tag Matches also get a Mixed boost, letting you play the different genders together. WWE 2K20 comes with a Deluxe Edition that gives you bonus content from the 20th Anniversary of SmackDown, a MyPLAYER Kickstart, an Accelerator pack, and more.
Ladies First
Overall, WWE 2K20 is a great entry into the game franchise, especially when released alongside SK Sports’ other published franchise, NBA 2K. It doesn’t have any groundbreaking features like the previous titles, but the feature of MyCAREER on female Superstars now is a great change.
