If you want a Window Phone filled with Android apps, this could be the answer
WP Launcher is an app that transforms you Android device’s interface to look like that of a Windows Phone. It isn’t flawless, but it does give an alternative to the, at times, clunky android interface.
Looks like Windows Phone
Once installed and activated WP Launcher makes your Android home-screen function like the Windows Phone interface. It is a significant, and (depending on your personal preference) not unpleasant visual change – but do not be fooled it does not alter what is going on behind the scenes.
Starting the app you are asked if you would like to set the launcher as you default starting interface. A word of warning here – use it for a time before making this decision. You can easily start it from the apps icon each time you use your phone. Until you know it is right for you, do not shun the default interface.
Feels like Android
The clean Window Phone interface is appealing with large colorful tiles to represent each app. Swiping up and down scrolls through all the apps pinned to your home-screen with ease, while a quick swipe delivers you to a handy search menu. WP Launcher does add a few twists to this established formula, with a little more ability to edit blocks, but otherwise is all there – warts and all.
It’s not all good news though. WP Launcher does not manage to correct any of the Windows Phone issues, as it still proves tricky to organize the tiles.
Plus, the launcher is in a constant battle with the original Android interface. Jumping into any app, you will be thrust back into an environment designed for a different operating system, making using your device feel inconsistent.
Not quite either
WP Launcher does a good job re-skinning the basic Android experience. However, the occasional crash, and inconstancy between the home-screen and apps, mean you may not want this as your default launcher.
