Zip and unzip attachments in Outlook
WinZip Courier automatically compresses and encrypts email attachments, allowing you to send lighter and more secure messages.
Still tightly integrated with Microsoft Office, WinZip Courier is best used with Outlook, and it also allows you to compress and send directly from Word, Excel and Powerpoint. In version 3.0 you can now also use WinZip Courier with web mail. Yahoo! Mail, Microsoft Live Hotmail and Gmail are supported, although unfortunately only if your browser if Internet Explorer 7 or 8.
Encryption can be set to be automatic, and has three strengths. This will give users peace of mind, although it’s unnecessary for most people and email should already be secure. Compression certainly does save space and bandwidth, and can make large files look much less ominous!
WinZip Courier is especially useful for Outlook users who send lots of attachments, and its integration with Office is very useful. It’s just a shame more browsers aren’t supported.
WinZip Courier for Outlook makes it easy for users of Microsoft Outlook to zip and encrypt attachments when sending messages
WinZip Companion for Outlook makes it easy for users of Microsoft Outlook to zip and encrypt attachments when sending messages. Zipping attachments saves transmission time, conserves space in Microsoft Outlook mailboxes, and saves disk space for both the sender and recipient of the e-mail.
The Companion can be configured to automatically zip your attachments, ask whether or not you want them zipped, or let you zip and attach files manually with just a few mouse clicks. Toolbar and menu items allow you to control the Companion’s functionality on a message-by-message basis. In addition, sensitive attachments can be easily protected with the same built-in advanced AES encryption found in WinZip 9.0 or later.
