As the player, you control Clint Edwards, an investigative reporter who has taken it on himself to identify and help the woman in danger. The game’s interface includes a simulated web browser, which the player must use correctly to solve the puzzle. Gameplay includes playing mini-games to fend off hackers, using strategy to avoid the attention of the police as you explore the deep web, and earning money to buy items that will boost your machine. You can also step away from the in-game computer to explore Clint’s apartment, and make sure that it is secure from the attention of your enemies.
