“Tutorials for Scratch” – An App for Learning Programming and Coding
“Tutorials for Scratch” is an Android application developed by David Phillips, available for free download on the Google Play Store. This app falls under the Education & Reference category and provides a whole bunch of video tutorials to help users learn programming and coding. The Scratch programming language is used for teaching, and the videos are aimed at primary/elementary students, although the content is designed to stretch and challenge even the most able ones.
The app has a big size of just under 300Mb, which is justified by the vast amount of material it contains. The videos are not standard tutorials, and the user is given tasks to complete, and the next video in each project shows how to complete the task. There is enough material to keep students busy for around six hours, even if they don’t manage to have a go at the extension tasks that are identified for all four games. The app is designed to be used on tablets and phones, alongside the PC, to build games.
