Extra content for Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Turok 2 Plus Mod is a free-to-use mod from custom content creator Totalitarian. This add-on, created for the 2017 remastered classic action game Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, introduces a couple of content redesigns and gameplay mechanic fixes. It has a lot of modifications but the overall experience remains true to the base game.
Overall, Turok 2 Plus Mod reworks some aspects that make the vanilla version boring and predictable after some time. From enhanced weapon redesigns, level edits, to new gameplay mechanics, this mod makes Seeds of Evil comparable to its contemporaries, Quake 4 or Doom 64.
A collection of minor changes
For players looking for a reason to revisit the classic shooter game, Turok 2 Plus Mod can help you with that. It introduces a lot of changes to the weapon system. Most weapons are given new alternate fire modes such as the tranquilizer and the shotgun. Meanwhile, others got new visual effects to distinguish them better while in play. Unfortunately, some of these add-ons remain bugged, affecting gameplay.
One improvement this add-on got right is the rework of the enemy AI. It spices up the game by giving them new attack animation and improves on the tactical aspects of the enemies. There’s increased stealth and improved pathfinding. Furthermore, the mod also changes the spawn rates and behavior, which makes it feel familiar and new at the same time when played on certain modified levels.
On lower difficulty levels, the Turok 2+ works just fine. Aside from the design concerns on the weapons, there’s no problem going an entire run with the mod on. However, problems start appearing on the higher difficulty levels. From textures starting to glitch on the environment to intermittent cases of freezing and even crashing, the latter could be attributed to higher difficulty settings spawning more monsters.
Good mod but can be better
The optimization issues that haunt Turok 2 Plus Mod are mostly limited to higher difficulty levels, which can be caused by engine restrictions from the base game. Still, it’s a good add-on to have for fans of Seeds of Evil simply because of the changes it offers for players of the dinosaur-themed shooting action. Its collection of changes and reworks is a hit-and-miss but overall, it works.
