What is a thermal camera?

A thermal camera is an electronic device used to detect and visualize the temperature distribution of a scene. Its main advantage is that it can be used indoors and outdoors, in any environment, without having to use a dedicated mount.

A thermographic image is produced by the device, showing a map of the scene temperature. This is done by using a very sensitive micro thermometer that measures the temperature of the scene with high accuracy.
