Atmospheric survival sim in space
The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation is a premium strategy game for PC coming from developer Supercube. It is a space survival title that has players take control of a team of explorers. They will go on a mission to a desolate moon to unlock its secrets while trying to survive its harsh conditions.
Similar to Cities: Skylines or Fallout Shelter, The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation also employs management mechanics in its gameplay. What makes it stand out is its more atmospheric presentation and darker tone for its narrative and art style, offering a distinct experience from its contemporaries.
Embark on a dangerous mission
The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation is set on the desolate moon named Io where you and a team of specialists will go to explore and discover its hidden mysteries. However, your mission is far from simple as you find yourself shipwrecked on the mysterious space rock, subject to its harsh conditions. You must now add survival and getting out alive to your list of priorities.
Each playthrough in The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation has you control a team of three specialists randomly selected from a pool of 15 members. You must adapt to their unique strengths and weaknesses to survive. Volcanos, seismic activity, and magnetic storms wreak havoc on the moon’s surface, and you will need to watch out for them as you venture out to collect resources.
Use what you’ve collected to create food and craft building materials to repair your ship. All the while, you need to collect scientific data to accomplish your mission. It even has multiple possible endings and conditions. Before diving in, just be aware that the game still has technical and content restrictions, so expect more changes and bug fixes to come in future updates.
Survive and complete the mission
If you’re a fan of both space and survival games, then The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation is an interesting new title that is worth checking out. It’s set in a dark and atmospheric world that has you fighting for survival at every turn while trying to accomplish your mission. It’s challenging, offers varied gameplay, and will get better as development for it continues.
