2D horror-driven hack-and-slash RPG
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me tells the story of a team of filmmakers who are lured to a mysterious hotel in order to document the history of a real-life serial killer named H.H. Holmes and his so-called “murder castle.” However, these filmmakers soon realize that they are actually the ones being hunted.
This game contains numerous elements that can be compared to other popular platforms, such as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The primary goal is to escape a series of “killing rooms” that are found within a large and luxurious hotel.
Inspired by real-life events
The main villain of this story was a serial killer named H.H. Holmes, who was suspected of having killed up to ten people. It is thought that he lured victims that had been attending the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. The hotel and its fictional interior are at least partially based on these rumors.
Nothing is as it appears
The dark and foreboding nature of the hotel will require players to perform various actions if they hope to emerge unharmed. Examples include solving puzzles, acquiring skills, cooperating with other team members, and exploring an expansive environment.
Impressive graphics and backgrounds
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me offers the same quality graphics that are associated with the entire Dark Pictures series. Thanks to unexpected jumpscares and disturbing audio effects, these are further enhanced.
Alone or safety in numbers?
The Devil in Me offers a combination of suspense, horror, and tasks that require a fair amount of ingenuity. These features are associated with other games released by this developer, including Dark Pictures: Little Hope. Offering both single-player and co-op support, a foreboding sense of excitement awaits.
