Live the Blocky Life
The Blockheads is a survival sandbox mobile video game wherein you get to go on an epic adventure with your polygonal avatar character called a Blockhead. Similar to the looks and feel of Minecraft, The Blockheads features a vast procedurally-generated world that you can explore however you wish. This game is only 2.5D, though, so it has the same side-scrolling action that’s similar to Terraria instead of Minecraft’s full 3D rendering. Either way, the goal is to keep your Blockhead alive to see more of the world you’ve been thrust into and establish a home for yourself in the vast wilderness that you can most definitely tame with the right tools on hand.
Block Up
A quirky combination of Minecraft and Terraria’s styles, The Blockheads feature a familiar pixelated cubic art style that’s simple, but easy on the eyes. You have the same goal as the other two games, as well. You need to survive the wilderness every day and keep your Blockhead happy and healthy as you explore the world. You can explore caves, mine rocks, craft furniture, and tools, and build your own base wherever you wish it to be. There’s much to do to keep your Blockhead alive as the game employs six statistics, namely, health, happiness, hunger, energy, and environment. If you don’t feed your Blockhead and deplete their hunger bar, their health bar will start taking damage. When it comes to crafting using the various natural resources you can gather, the finished product takes time, unlike in Minecraft. You have to either wait for it to finish or use special power-ups—which can be gained by watching short videos of ads, mining them in caves, or through in-app purchases. The randomly-generated worlds all have a climate system, seasons, an equator, and even frozen poles that you can visit, alongside the various biomes scattered around. What’s even more fun is that you can play this game in multiplayer mode, either helping other Blockheads survive or by starting fights with them and getting rewards for winning.
