The Quran is the central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from God (Arabic: الله‎, Allah). The Quran consists of the Arabic text of the Book of Allah, which Muslims believe to be the word of God, and the narration of the events that occurred in the life of the Prophet Muhammad. The Quran is divided into chapters called suras, which are then divided into verses. The word “Quran” is derived from the Arabic word “Al-Qur’an”, which means “The Book of Allah”.

There is some variation in the number of suras and verses, but most Islamic books and most modern translations count 60 suras and 114 verses. The Quran is believed to be the last revelation, so Muslims do not expect it to be changed, added, or deleted. The Quran is considered by Muslims to be the most authentic of the sacred books, and is also the most informative.
