Super Smash Bros-style game in 8-bit

Super Tilt Bro. is a remake of the crossover fighting video game series, Super Smash Bros. In this title, you will be able to play the 1999 hit in an 8-bit smash-style game on various desktop devices. Not only that, but you can also play this game in your compatible 1980s Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Thanks to its offered cartridge that features a built-in WiFi chip, you can connect to the internet using your decades-old console to enjoy playing with someone online. However, take into consideration that the game carts present here are still in the early prototypes.

The same-old combat game that you love

Gameplay-wise, this action-packed game emulates the classic Super Smash Bros. It heavily involves striking opponents until you knock them out of the arena. Each player will start with a certain amount of life, and the last player to survive wins. There are two playable characters available. You can choose to play Sinbad, who has an Ogre3D mascot, or Kiki, who has a Krita figurehead. Both of them have a set of unique moves that you can use to win. For instance, Kiki is capable of drawing platforms that will enable him to recover from falls. Sinbad’s sword, meanwhile, provides him offensive power that can’t be easily matched.

Super Tilt Bro. also provides you a wardrobe allowing you to change your character’s outfits that will suit your preferences. With four game stages offered, you will be able to enjoy a smooth-sailing platforming and fighting challenges. This game is the NES version of Super Smash Bros since it translates most of its mechanics into NES-style graphics and gameplay. Thus, expect to experience a 2D retro pixel art design throughout your play.

Super Tilt Bro is available as an NES ROM file that you can get on the developer’s itch.io page. It is also available as an embedded game within your browser window. This platformer game is still in its alpha stage. If you want to be among the first ones who’ll get its full version, you can join their Discord community. Not only that, but you can also find other players for online matches there.

Impressive even in its early stage

Even though most of Super Tilt Bro.’s main game features are still in the alpha stage, this release has already left a remarkable impression. From its gameplay to its nostalgic pixel art game design, it is arguably one of the best emulations of the smash-hit Super Smash Bros. series
