Space colony management sim
Stardeus is a premium simulation game created by developer Kodo Linija. It is a city management title set in space and has players rebuild and take charge of a spaceship colony. They will set out to explore unknown regions of space and discover their mysteries.
Similar to Aven Colony or Surviving Mars, Stardeus offers a well-rounded city-building experience while also emphasizing open-world exploration. There is a demo version available to new players that will let them get a feel for the gameplay and have an idea of what to expect from the full release.
Colony explorers
Stardeus is basically a part-colony management sim and part-open-world exploration adventure rolled into one experience. In it, you are an immortal AI, and you are given the task of creating a human colony inside a large spaceship with the help of robots and drones at your command. You will need to build machinery and infrastructures to support and sustain life, as well as deal with the harsh conditions of space.
One of the unique aspects of the game is that your AI robots have the capacity to act on their own—essentially having free will—based on their needs and situational awareness. The same applies to your human residents, who will perform tasks of their own accord, not to mention, their varying emotional and mental states. This is unless you opt to implant control devices into their brains to force submission.
Then, there’s the resource management side where you’ll break down and repurpose sections of your ship for raw materials to craft tools and parts. Automate functions like oxygen, heat, and energy production. Other things to do include encouraging economic growth and developing space defense systems. With all of that being said, though, the game is not out yet and when it does, it will be in early access status.
Full control
Overall, Stardeus is a game that lets you control virtually every aspect of the experience as you want. For a colony management sim, the sheer amount of things to do and the depth of its gameplay systems is quite impressive, albeit a little overwhelming. If you’re the type of player who wants to micromanage everything, this title is worth keeping tabs on. Recommended.
