LEGO Education SPIKE – An App that Gives Students Immersive Learning Experience
We are developing the LEGO® Education SPIKE App in collaboration with teachers and teachers’ unions. The SPIKE App is designed to teach and learn science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) in the classroom through games, role-play, and exploration. When combined with the SPIKE Portfolio, the SPIKE App provides a hands-on, immersive experience for students to explore their creativity.
When using the SPIKE App, students progress through a series of three coding environments. First, students use icon-blocks to explore design and logic by coding their creations in basic ways by using the motor-sensor, color, and logic-based design tools to create a variety of different designs. Next, students move on to word-blocks to express their ideas more clearly. They will create and explore their own language of digital code to make their creations real. Finally, they will move on to Python to build and explore with other students.
The SPIKE App is used to teach and learn science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) in the classroom. The LEGO® Education SPIKE App is a powerful tool for teachers and students to explore in the classroom. It is used with the SPIKE Portfolio, a STEAM learning system for teachers to facilitate the application of STEAM learning and for students to practice their skills in the field of STEAM.
The SPIKE App is used in a variety of ways, including:
