A REMAKE OF A CLASSIC PLATFORMER MADE FOR MODERN EYES

Sonic 2 HD is a remake of the second ever game in the Sonic series provided by fans for fans. It revamps the way the game looks and feels to match what gamers have come to expect without sacrificing the 2D side-view perspective and everything else that made up Sonic 2’s core gameplay.

Sonic sees a beautician

The biggest change between Sonic 2 and Sonic 2 HD is the graphics. The sprite art is updated shaded and made ready for a world that’s advanced so much since Sonic 2. Despite this the flair is mostly similar and if you’re expecting a fully 3D Sonic game here you might try Generations instead. That said the game is much more beautiful and applies some of what we’ve all learned about art design to a game that eserves it. Few to no gameplay changes were made: it’s all about making Sonic 2 as the title implies HD!

All flash same substance

Overall Sonic 2 HD is the same game as when dozens of youngsters and teens played it on older consoles. It just looks better runs more smoothly and is missing a few of the minor glitches that one might remember. If you enjoyed Sonic 2 or never played it to begin with it’s worth giving Sonic 2 HD at least a little consideration.
