Single-player open-world RPG

Solar Ash is a single-player RPG that tells the story of a Voidrunner names Rei. She is tasked with saving an entire planet from the voracious appetite of an evil entity simply known as the Ultravoid.

This game was developed by the creators of Hyper Light Drifter, another immensely successful role-playing platform. However, the physics-based character mechanics are said to have been vastly improved when compared to its predecessor.

An overwhelming sense of singularity

One feature that serves to predominantly define this game is the sheer size of the open-world environments that players will need to explore. As it is based in outer space, these biomes can be quite daunting. The good news is that this also provides opportunities for resource farming and finding hidden levels.

The use of gravity

There are likewise instances when players will need to adapt to entirely unique circumstances. One interesting example is the presence of gravity wells. These locations affect physical movements, and some can be quite challenging to overcome, particularly during combat.

A touch of retro-inspired ambiance

The graphics found throughout Soul Ash are brightly colored and intricate in nature. It is not unreasonable to assume that they were at least partially inspired by the popular Synthwave movement.

The journey as opposed to the destination

Solar Ash is divided into a series of “Remnant Challenges.” As one can imagine, these will become more daunting over time. While some bosses are indeed formidable, this aspect is frequently offset by the sheer immersive beauty of the worlds themselves.

This is the main reason why Solar Ash can be compared to similar first-person RPGs, such as Neon White. Fans of high-speed gameplay should enjoy what this platform has in store.
