Custom Screenshot Options

SnapShot is a screen capture software created by Jorijn Schrijvershof. The utility and tool software enables taking screenshots of the currently open window. Its purpose is simple but it has a lot of tools and customization.

How Screenshot Was Implemented?

The screenshot was first developed for interactive computers around the 1960s. It was not at first integrated to most computer operating systems through the 1980s. The earlier form of the screenshot was an exact text file of what is written on the screen but it doesn’t copy the graphical appearance. Other old screenshot methods were BASIC prompt with BSAVE command, VCR capture for computers with composite video output, and standard film cameras with anti-reflective hood and close-up lens.

An Old Function With Few Additions

SnapShot offers an alternative, non-native method of the screenshot for computers. The common native method is pressing “Print Screen” and pasting the captured image to an image editor. This software meanwhile captures the currently active screen and saves it. It has a simple user interface and an intuitive layout to get images easily. Anyone can get their own screenshots without using any external cameras whatsoever. The software comes with customization options. Users can assign multiple profiles depending on their purpose, such as shortcuts, unique access keys and various key combinations. The screen can be configured to either capture the active window or the other extra desktop screens. Users can select the format of their screenshots, along with the folder location to save the screenshot. They can select popular formats like GIF, JPEG, and PNG. There is an option to automatically upload the screenshots to either an online user profile or an FTP server.

For Computers Needing Extra Screenshots Options

SnapShot is not ideal for modern computers today. Taking screenshots is a simple task with the press of the “Print Screen” button found on most keyboards today. On the other hand, this application can be used on isolating multiple displays, as well as for quick screenshot sharing and immediate saving into known image formats.
