Wrap up to stave off the cold of Skyrim
Cloaks of Skyrim is a mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that adds dozens of wearable cloaks and a new equipment slot to wear them in.
Smooth, silky fabric
The mod adds several wardrobes’ worth of cloaks in black, red, blue, green, and several other colours. A few are patterned, and a few others have visible textures, ranging from hempen to velveteen. Most of the cloaks added by the mod wrap around the shoulder and are nearly floor-length.
Rough around the edges
The mod isn’t perfect, of course. Almost all of the cloaks it adds are mundane, so to gain any benefit from them you’ll need to enchant them. You also won’t find cloaks in treasure chests or shops added by other mods; you’ll need to loot them from bandits and thieves, or buy them from a handful of the game’s existing shops, chiefly the Radiant Raiment, which can end up selling pages worth of cloaks. Finally, particularly while running, characters’ legs and arms will frequently clip right through their cloak.
An easy addition to any playthrough
There’s very few things that can stop you from safely including Cloaks of Skyrim in your modded playthrough. Even if you install hundreds of other mods, it will likely run well, though at that point you’ll need a tool like LOOT to keep everything working. Many mods work directly with or build on Cloaks, as well.
An extra bit of flair
That said, Cloaks of Skyrim is not essential; it adds a bit of atmosphere, particularly when paired with mods such as Wet and Cold, and an extra equipment slot, which can make the player a little more powerful, but you’ll mostly want to install it if you just like how cloaks look.
