Harrowing aquatic adventure game for PC
Silt is a premium puzzle game developed by Spiral Circus Games for PC. It is an adventure title wherein players will be diving deep into the ocean’s abyss to explore its wonders and hidden mysteries. They will also need to be aware of the dangers and creatures lying within.
Similar to ABZU or Subnautica, Silt lets players experience an underwater adventure filled with all manner of aquatic creatures and depths to be explored. It features a more serious tone and presentation that is rather atmospheric, even horrifying at times, with its black and white design aesthetic.
Into the depths of darkness
Most aquatic-themed games focus on exploration and letting you experience the many wonders of the ocean and its wildlife in an almost cathartic way. You are free to roam and interact with anything that you see. Silt is a release that is the complete opposite of this notion, and will instead have you dive into the dark depths of the sea, with all the perils that come with it.
In this game, you will be diving deep into the ocean’s dark abyss in search of long-lost mysteries that have been forgotten with the passage of time. Encounter alien creatures, both big and small, that have evolved in strange and surprising ways to survive their extreme habitat. Everything was designed with a monochromatic theme, which adds to the eerie and atmospheric presentation that is hauntingly beautiful at the same time.
What’s more, there is an element of the supernatural in that you can possess creatures to help you overcome various challenges and puzzles throughout your journey. The gameplay is rather short and underwhelming, though. You will be able to finish it in a few hours, and the puzzles and challenges themselves are simplistic and uninspiring—a shame considering how well-executed its visual design turned out.
Shallow waters
Silt is an intriguing underwater adventure game that’s more serious in tone. Its design and art style complements the theme it’s going for very well. However, the gameplay itself is ironically shallow and doesn’t quite match its visual on the same level. Still, it’s a game that is worth giving a try if you’re looking for something different in this genre of games.
