Selfie emoji for Facebook Messenger
Selfied is an app from Facebook for its Messenger offering. It lets you take selfies, for different moods, and save them to be shared directly in your Facebook Messenger chats.
Share your mood with your face
A very simple app, Selfied has 16 selfie moods and, to get started, you have to take selfies that express them. Tap the camera icon, take a shot and then drag it into the appropriate emotion. There’s Happy, Sad, Thumbs Up, LOLing, Celebrating, Angry, Crying, OMG, Kiss, Annoyed, Confused, Sleepy, Creeping, Wink, and finally Cool.
You can only assign selfies taken within Selfied to each emotion. Choose one, then tap the Messenger icon, and that will open, with your selfie ready to share with whoever you want. Choose the contact(s) you want and the circular selfie is sent. Not being able to import photos already makes it quite limited.
Time will tell
Like all Messenger apps, using Selfied requires hopping between the two. If you are chatting and just want to slip in a selfie, it’s almost easier just to use the Messenger camera function. It’s true that you don’t get the same round image, but it’s a lot faster.
Being a Messenger app also means there are no options to share your selfies in other messaging apps (even Facebook’s own WhatsApp!).
When Facebook spun out Messenger, many people were skeptical about it, but it has become a success. If you like the idea of a bank of pre-prepared photos of your face expressing different emotions, Selfied is the app for you.
Fun, but limited
Selfied is a simple app that aims to make your Facebook chats more fun. It seems fiddly at first, but once you’re used to it, and have a collection of selfies you like, you may find yourself using it a lot.
