Select Search – Google’s New Search Engine

Searching has become an ever-increasing part of our lives. Even if you’re using Google‘s search engine, you’re still not getting the results you’re looking for. It’s time for you to take matters into your own hands. If you’re a fan of Google, we’ve got you covered.

Select Search offers a quick search to any website that supports it, such as Google.com, Wikipedia, or Twitter. The search feature is pretty much the same as in the browser you use, and you can add any website you wish.

When you select some text, it pops up a non intrusive baloon that allows you to do a search in Google, Wikipedia, or Twitter. There are also several other options.

Note that you have to reload a page before having the baloon and the extension is disabled on chrome extension pages.

Note on local favicons for personalized search engines: due to new security measures by google I’m not sure to be able to do it with an upload form. Nevertheless you should be able to use a path like file://path_on_your_computer/your_favicon.ico

You can now also search through your clipboard. Just copy the text and paste it anywhere you want.

This new feature is available in Select Search only.
