A free plugin library for GTA V mods
Script Hook V is a free video game utility that allows you to use GTA V script native functions in custom ASI plugins. Developed by Alexander Blade, this mod is a plugin library that also comes with the latest ASI Loader and Native Trainer. With this, your mods for the popular game, Grand Theft Auto V, can work and interact with each other properly. This tool doesn’t work in Grand Theft Auto Online, however.
What is Script Hook V for?
Grand Theft Auto V is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, its single-player open-world campaign follows the story of three criminals—Michael, Franklin, and Trevor—and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from various powerful factions within their city. Due to the game’s expansive world, it’s no surprise to find tons of mods developed for it.
However, making these mods work can be tricky, especially if their coding starts conflicting with each other. Fortunately, you can use other mods as a solution. This is what Script Hook V does—you can basically run your game without worrying about the game’s scripts getting errors due to the mods you’ve installed. This compiled list of script plugins will only depend on this mod, so when the game updates, just update the mod to fix things.
How do you run Script Hook V?
To install Script Hook V, you need to extract the ZIP file, open the Bin folder, and copy the files. Specifically, copy ScriptHookV.dll to the game’s main folder, which is where GTA5.exe should be located. Then, in order to load the ASI plugins—ASI being a mod library file that’s used to alter gameplay—you need to have ASI Loader installed. This mod already has it if you happen to not have one installed yet.
However, if you have a previous ASI Loader, you’ll need to delete it. You already get Native Trainer with this tool, as well, which adds various new gameplay cheats to your playthrough, such as the ability to spawn all vehicles in the game and add all weapons to your arsenal. It’s only too bad that this won’t work in GTA Online because the mod disables custom scripts when you go into multiplayer.
Always update
All in all, Script Hook V is a great utility to have if you’re keen on getting mods working right on your GTA V. While it will constantly need updates to stay error-free, it’s still a handy mod for running custom scripts. Not only does it come with two other utilities, but many mods also rely on its convenience so that you don’t have to manually update each mod you have for every game update.
