A reworking of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Desolation Mod is a fan-made mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. It is free to download, and aims to rework elements of the game to provide more focus on freeplay, as well as overhaul the attachment system to make it easier to develop weapon attachements.
This mod reworks many weapon models and attachments, giving the game a new feel that existing fans of the game may enjoy coming back for. The mod is also in active development, with more features planned for the future.
Reworking a popular shooter game
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is a popular first-person shooter game from 2010, with a large fan-base still interested in playing the game even now. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Desolation aims to rework elements of the game to give it a new feel, including more focus on freeplay elements, pulling away from the more linear feel of the original.
Weapons and attachments
The mod reworks several weapons—including their models—as well as well as attachments, rails, and scopes. It also reworks the underlying attachment system with the aim of making the development of new weapon attachements in the future much easier than it currently is.
An interesting mod for fans
For players who are already fans of the game, this mod may be an interesting diversion, though the changes made are unlikely to entice people who weren’t already interested. It should be noted that this is a demo version of what the developer intends for the mod, and is not stable.
Active development
That being said, the mod is in active development, and the developer plans to add many more features in the future.
