Protect your castle with everything you’ve got

Rush Royale is a free strategy video game that lets you prove your skills with defending a territory. Developed by My.com B.V., this colorful 2D game features a unique combination of tower defense gameplay and card game elements.

Offering a hero collection system and multiplayer game modes, Rush Royale is all about utilizing the most out of your and your team’s playable units. The game is available on both PC, mobile, and web browsers—although take note that the PC version downloads and installs a game app hub program called “MY.GAMES GameCenter” to run it.

Is Rush Royale a good game?

Also known as Rush Royale: Tower Defense TD, Rush Royale lets you play a unique version of the classic tower defense genre. Here, waves of enemies gradually come out of one gate and advance toward your base. You must use your various turret units to stop them. However, summoning units is random and based on luck. The units you can summon depend on what unit cards you’ve unlocked so far.

Once on the battlefield, you can merge identical units for a random higher-ranked unit to either save space on the grid or conserve power. There are two main game modes available: PvP and PvE. PvP pits you against a random player, wherein you must survive longer than them. Meanwhile, Dungeons is the PvE and co-op mode that lets you team up with others to complete several levels.

The game plays well enough for a tower defense title and the adorable art style makes it easy on the eyes. The PC version could use some more optimization on its interface, though. Its resolution is still of the mobile version by default—thus, some of the interface limitations remain here. It could still benefit from a “Collect All” button and a button for easily creating card decks.

A tower defense you won’t forget

All in all, Rush Royale is a great little strategy game to sink your teeth into if you’re a fan of tower defense and want something a little different. Not only does it offer multiplayer modes of different types, but its gameplay is unique enough to be lots of fun. While the interface for the PC version could use some more tweaks, the overall performance of the game is still satisfactory.
