A life sim game set in the prehistoric ages
Roots of Pacha is a premium simulation game for PC made by developer Soda Den. It’s a life sim set in the prehistoric ages, wherein players establish a thriving community. They will need to hunt for food, build various structures, and discover modern ideas as they work toward the growth of their village.
Just like Stardew Valley, Roots of Pacha features charming pixel art for its design and presentation. The game features a single-player campaign that lets players experience the early days of man, or a co-op mode if they want to have friends join their journey.
Rediscovering fire
Games that incorporate elements of both slice-of-life and city builders have steadily risen in popularity in the past decade. They provide the grounded and relatable experience of the former, with the sense of progression and scale of the latter. They also take inspiration from various time periods in human history, and Roots of Pacha does the same but goes way back to the beginning of mankind.
The game takes you back to the Stone Age when cavemen roamed the Earth. As you play, you’ll get to discover ideas and knowledge on prehistoric tools that will help you take steps toward real progress. Apply concepts of agriculture and architecture to steer your people toward slow but steady modernization. Work together with your clan to ensure survival and thrive as a community.
The game also features support for online multiplayer gameplay. Here, you can invite your friends over to share resources or help with your various daily tasks. You can even catch and ride animals together. Sadly, there is still no official word as to when it will come out outside of a planned 2022 release window. Wishlist and check its Steam page for more news and updates.
The wheel turns
If you’re a fan of life sims and city builders, keep Roots of Pacha on your watch list. The combination of its charming pixel graphics and lighthearted gameplay makes for a fun and chill time. The inclusion of online multiplayer is appreciated and will just make the experience that much better. Hopefully, it gets released soon rather than later. Recommended.
