Rise from Disaster is a free action-based game with a science fiction story. It depicts a future where humanity has been at war with machines for a century, and the machines are aided by deadly mutants. The player takes part in a rebellion that will turn the tide in favor of the humans.

Battle mutants

Rise from Disaster drops the player into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, where you must battle zombie-like mutants to survive. You start out with only your bare hands as weapons. However, you can pick up better and more powerful implements as you progress, including a sword with slash, cycle slash, combo slash, and sunder slash capabilities.

Complete the missions

The game is divided up into different missions, each with its own objective. Some require you to kill mutants. In other cases, your objective is to reach a specified location. There are also boss missions in which you need to take out a particularly powerful opponent. Completing missions pushes the story forward, although the cutscenes are basic and lack sound.

Variable difficulty

Rise from Disaster has some oddities in its design. For one, your enemies will simply stand still in certain missions. You can hack them to death, and they won’t fight back. This has the effect of making the difficulty level wildly variable.

A stylish adventure

The visual style of Rise from Disaster makes the game an inviting science-fiction romp, and the mission objectives add variety. It is also quite violent, despite being rated for all ages. If you can look past the odder aspects of the gameplay, like the freezing enemies, you may enjoy the adventure.
