The Talking Therapy App
Psonríe is an application that is designed to take the place of a qualified psychotherapist in person and offer users the chance to chat to someone about anything they wish in short sessions. Providing a cheap alternative to attending a psychologist’s consulting room, it offers convenience and complete anonymity.
In the psychiatrist’s chair
Although Psonríe means you don’t have to undergo any talking therapy sessions in person, it will connect you to a real person who you can chat to and explore the inner workings of you mind with. One of the key advantages of using an app to connect you with a psychological professional is that you can use it at any time and without the need to make an appointment. It will, therefore, be of use to people with busy lives or who suffer from nervousness when heading out, especially in new situations. Psonríe is an app which is only currently supporting Spanish speakers, but plans are afoot to expand this to meet the needs of others in the future. The app is designed for short sessions of about 20 minutes.
Psychobabble?
Psonríe is a genuine attempt to bring real psychological services to remote users in a new way. Although it will appeal to certain people, it may never offer the intimacy and trust that an in-person session would. Having said that, the service can work to help with a variety of minor psychological problems and with putting the mind at ease.
