Get Free Pokémon Stuff with this App
Pokémon Pass is a free mobile phone app offered by The Pokémon Company International, wherein you can get various Pokémon freebies by just visiting locations partnered with the app. This is the kind of app that will vary in benefiting you, depending on your lifestyle. It’s not a necessary app to have, even if you’re a hardcore fan of the franchise. But, if you happen to have a Pokémon Trainer Club account and have the games that the app gives prizes for, then this is a nice app to try out.
Gotta Get ‘Em All
Pokémon, a name contracted from the original words Pocket Monsters, is a Japanese media franchise owned by Nintendo, Creatures, Inc. and Game Freak. First released in 1996 with various video game titles for the Game Boy console, the Pokémon game series has since inspired a wide array of media, including an anime, a card game, numerous manga, and various spin-off games. Through the years, the Pokémon franchise had become one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time.
The entire series focuses on a myriad of interesting creatures known as Pokémon, which was mostly based on real-life creatures. Pokémon coexists with humans. They can be caught, trained, and used in battles and other activities. Trainers, who wish to become a Pokemon master, travel the diverse world of the franchise to gain more experience in Pokemon battle. As of 2019, there are 122 known games in the franchise. Some of these make use of the online Pokémon Trainer Club, which sometimes gifts players with cool rewards on their linked games.
Freebies with Just an App
One of the free benefits of the Pokémon Trainer Club is the Pokémon Pass app. The app pretty much functions as a code redeemer for any events happening at the various real-world locations partnered with the Pokémon franchise for promotion. It updates you with different Pokémon reward activities whenever you visit participating retail stores in your area. All you have to do is sign in with your Pokémon Trainer Club account then you’ll get notified of any upcoming events. When you visit the designated store, you can then use your phone’s camera to scan a code for the event. This enables you to unlock a gift, such as in-game items for supported Pokémon games, free Pokémon, or even Pokémon photo stickers for your camera. Take note that you’re required to have a Pokémon Trainer Club account from Pokemon.com and that you need to enable location services and grant camera permission for the app. Other than this function, however, there’s not much else to do with this app.
Maybe Just Earn Those Stuff Instead
Despite the lack of other functions, Pokémon Pass is a handy game for any Pokémon fan wanting freebies. It has a lot of issues that may turn you off, though. First, logging in and verifying emails can be a hassle. Second, the notifications for any promos don’t always pop up. Apparently, it’s not a reliable app for most users who tried it. You might be better off without those freebies if the app will just waste your time.
