Randomize Pokémon with this free app

PKMN Randomizer is a free video game utility mobile app that enables you to generate random Pokémon. Developed by SaimOneFcs, this simple app features 721 of the existing Pokémon in the popular Pokémon franchise and lets you get random choices for a set number every time you generate a new list. However, compared to most of the other Pokémon randomizers, this one doesn’t have any other features other than generating random images.

Gotta see ‘em all

Pokémon—also known as Pocket Monsters—is a Japanese media franchise owned by Nintendo, Creatures, Inc., and Game Freak. The entire series focuses on a myriad of interesting creatures known as Pokémon, which are mostly based on real-life creatures. Pokémon coexist with humans and can be caught, trained, and used in battles and other activities. Trainers and their Pokémon travel across diverse lands of the canon game world, aiming to make their dreams become reality.

The series was first released in 1996 and has since inspired a wide array of media. These include an animated cartoon series, a card game, numerous manga, and various spin-off games—making it one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time. As such, you can expect numerous fan-made free utilities for it. These range from software mods to fandom websites that help collect information on the franchise.

One such free tool is the PKMN Randomizer app. It works similarly to the randompokemon.com website and simply generates random Pokémon for you to choose from. You can use it for anything that may require a random selection but unlike the website, you can’t apply filters such as regions and Pokémon types. You can only choose up to 10 Pokémon to be displayed and that’s about all the app can do.

Severely lacking

All in all, PKMN Randomizer looks handy but it’s a bit disappointing with just how little it has to offer. It can only generate Pokémon images and their names. Unlike most randomizers, there are no filters so you can narrow down the generated results. Plus, this app only includes 721 Pokémon. It’s quite lacking in features and doesn’t really feel useful enough to warrant downloading an app.
