Send And Organize Your Photos From Device to Device.
Photos Companion is a free app designed for mobile devices from Microsoft. It allows devices running it to send photos to desktop computers and other platforms running Microsoft’s Photos app. It’s designed to facilitate and simplify photo transfers of all kinds.
Double-take
The process to use Photos Companion is simple. On the desktop running Photos, the user can obtain and scan a code (similar to a QR code or a bar code) that lets them begin photo transfers between their desktop and the client device. The desktop and device have to be on the same Wi-Fi network, as well: this process makes using Photos Companion more secure, but also limits its range to when you’re at home. On the plus side, file transfers are very fast, even on Wi-Fi networks that are usually slow, and Companion itself is snappy to use.
A simple tool
Overall, Photos Companion does what it sets out to do, and it does it well. Although its physical range is limited, Photos Companion has no bugs or glaring flaws that mar it, and if you already use Photos and have devices that Companion runs on, there’s no reason not to make your experience more seamless between the two.
