Put your best face forward
Perfect365 at first seems like another app aimed at the selfie generation, those people obsessed with perfecting their pictures so they can show their friends (and the world) just how beautiful they look (in their photos). But it’s also aimed at helping you style your own look, both in terms of make up and clothes.
Touch up your face
Feature-wise, Perfect365 offers good but not great tools to enhance your photos that are not quite as intuitive nor effective as the likes of Facetune. The main photo touch-up options include the ability to apply a pre-formulated look (basically make up for your skin, eyes, and lips); smooth and brighten your skin; shape your face; deepen your smile; whiten your teeth; and add a wig. There are also options for tweaking the color of your eyes and lips, as well as explanations about how to recreate each look and what clothes you should wear with this style.
Perfect365’s features are very much directed at females looking to perfect their make up, offering little for men unless they want to see what they look like with lipstick and blusher (and many may want to). If you want to try features first, you can also use one of the photos included in the app.
Where am I?
While it lacks the intuitive nature and slick design of its rival Facetune, Perfect365 is still easy enough for the novice user to pick up and dive into straight away. However, it’s navigation is lacking. The back button always takes you straight out of the app rather than to the previous menu, while the edit option (surely the most important part) is a small button at the bottom of the screen. I kept exiting the app half way through editing. Also the option to compare your original photo with the edited one is far from obvious, being another small button marked “B/A”.
And a word on some of the pre-generated looks, they tend to be pretty over the top, making them a touch useless.
Get that look
Overall, as a selfie editing app, Perfect365 is lacking compared to its competitors in terms of features and usability. It is a more useful tool if you want to learn more about what kind of make up suits you or you want to learn how to recreate looks and match these with certain clothes.
