In India, people prefer to use their mobile numbers for financial transactions and service requests, instead of a bank account.

In order to facilitate digital payments using your mobile number, the government of India has introduced the “AePS” (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System) program.

AePS is a payment system that facilitates online and offline payments using an Aadhaar number. The program was launched in December 2017 and is implemented by the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India).

How does the program work?

To use the program, you first need to register on the NPCI’s mobile application. You need to provide your Aadhaar number and a selfie. You will be sent an OTP (One Time Password) to verify your identity.

Once your identity is verified, you can start using the program.

In order to facilitate easy payments, the NPCI has introduced two new bills:

One is “Recharge with cashback”, which allows users to add money to their wallets by getting cashback on their mobile recharges, dth recharges, and bill payments. The other is “Withdraw Money from an NPCI Account”, which allows users to withdraw money from their bank accounts.
