A space sim game about constructing drones
Nimbatus – The Space Drone Constructor is a space sim game set in a procedurally generated universe in which the environment is fully destructible. In the game, the player is tasked with creating drones out of the hundreds of spare parts available.
This game is part of a wave of popular space simulator games that involve crafting and destructible environments, with Space Engineers and Scrap Mechanic being examples of similar games. There is no multiplayer mode in the game, but there are leaderboards for some degree of competition with other players.
Become the captain of a drone factory
In Nimbatus – The Space Drone Constructor, the player takes on the role of captain of the titular Nimbatus — the largest drone factor ever made. Using the tools at the player’s disposal, they will be able to construct unique drones however they like from the hundreds of parts available. Those drones can then go off and explore.
Explore and survive
Once out in the world, the player’s drones can survive a number of ways, such as shooting their way through a planet or doing battle with autonomous drones that have been constructed by other players. There is also a sandbox mode for the player to experiment without worrying about dangers.
A fun concept but somewhat repetitive
The procedural nature of the game world increases replayability, but the repetitive nature of the missions reduces the replayability. The sandbox mode makes the game suitable for casual players who are only interested in the drone-building aspect, while players looking for more of a challenge can head out into the game world.
