A free dating sim visual novel
NEET Girl Date Night is a very tame and understated dating sim with no adult themes or even any attractive people. It is a game where you try to get a date with a very reclusive girl or trans-girl by picking dialog options. It is hand-drawn and shows plenty of artistic talent.
The choose your own story game always ends the same way, but your experience changes slightly depending on the dialog choices you pick. It is not scary like Doki Doki Literature Club. The visual style is like a less intense version of Mad Father.
A hand-drawn dating story
The girl or trans-girl (it is not clear) in this dating sim is a recluse who lives in a very messy bedroom and who is approached by a family friend. The job of the family friend is to convince her to start dating and to get her out of the house.
A day in the life of a recluse
The story is not really about getting a date or a kiss. It is about convincing somebody to start engaging with the world again rather than shying away from it. It is a short story but covers its theme fairly well. There is no way to lose the game; you simply follow the story to the end.
A story with a narrow scope
The story funnels in one direction, no matter which dialog choices you make. The character may appear more or less stressed based on your responses, but things always go the same way. It is not a bad thing, but it does hurt replayability.
Pixelated areas in the book
It is a shame that this romantic visual novel has certain images that are pixelated. The visual quality seems to vary because there are some areas that are brilliantly drawn. For example, the outside area with the cars almost has a depth of field and 3D perspective about it, whereas the images on the girl/trans-girls TV are very pixelated.
