Free-to-use VPN service
N-Tunnel is a free utility from the NovaDevelop team. It lets you connect to a virtual private network (VPN), automatically or manually, and browse the internet with added security and total anonymity. With this handy tool, you can access websites that are otherwise blocked due to geographical restrictions or geo-blocking.
With a small storage requirement of about 5 MB, N-Tunnel VPN sounds like a promising alternative to popular apps like Ultrasurf VPN or VPN Proxy Master. Unfortunately, like most free VPNs, it suffers from a couple of issues, such as intermittent disconnections and instances of difficulty connecting to a server.
Quick and easy to use
As soon as you install N-Tunnel VPN, you are immediately greeted with a barebones, almost entirely green screen. There’s not much to do but choose the VPN server you wish to connect to and press the large button at the center of the screen. There is also a PIN that you can input to mark your specific connection and add a layer of security as you browse the internet.
In terms of its VPN servers, you can manually choose your preferred server or use Auto Select to connect you to the optimal access point available. A curious part of the app is an EXP section at the bottom, which initially marked a 30-day trial period. There are instances where downloading the app leaves the timer blank, suggesting unlimited free use.
As mentioned, this utility fails to rise above the everyday challenges of free VPN providers. For one, there are instances where you can’t connect to its VPN network, despite the staggering number of global servers available. Additionally, users have reported being intermittently disconnected from the VPN of their choice. To make it worse, you have to reconnect manually should it happen.
A standard free VPN
While N-Tunnel looks like a promising app to browse the internet safely and anonymously, it’s not particularly outstanding at its job. While it might deliver most of the time, plus the PIN that adds security, it fails to rise above the common problems among free-to-use VPNs. The issues are not widespread but they still affect the experience, especially if you’re streaming or playing games.
