Ride and look after a virtual horse
My Little Riding Champion is a game that puts you in charge of your own riding school. Explore an open world on horseback, take care of your pet horse, and take part in missions and sub-games.
The game can be described as a scaled-down, “junior” version of titles such as That Horse Game – Riding Demo and Star Stable. It offers younger players the opportunity to experience virtual horse-riding in various forms.
A riding school of your own
My Little Riding Champion begins with the main character, Louisa, arriving at her uncle’s riding school. From here, she will be given a series of tasks that appear in a “mission booklet” and include both main and side tasks. As these tasks are completed, a story will unfold.
Take control of a horse
As you would expect, the tasks typically involve riding a horse. The game is designed to feature fairly sophisticated mechanics: as you ride your horse, you can shift from trots to gallops using an onscreen display. Galloping will cause the horse to lose energy, which will prevent it from jumping over obstacles. A slow trot will re-energize it.
Clean your horse, customize your rider
My Little Riding Champion includes customization options so that you can alter Louisa’s clothes and hairstyle. Similar in spirit is the horse-cleaning subgame, in which you use a variety of tools to wipe away the stains that have built up on your horse’s coat following the latest ride.
A game for young horse-lovers
The game is aimed at children, and several aspects will be off-putting for older players. The tasks are generally very simple, and the in-game dialogue spells out every mechanic in detail (particularly grating, given the low-quality voice-acting). However, a player in the target age range is unlikely to be bothered by such details.
