Free Video Player With Varying Degrees of Performance

MX Video Player is a free multimedia app that not only lets you play and watch videos but also allows you to edit them to some degree. It has specific touch gestures for a convenient fit to whatever lifestyle you have so you don’t have to be bothered to keep checking its menu interface for the settings.

Much to Offer

Similar to other media players, MX Video Player allows basic functions such as rewinding, volume control, brightness, playback speed, full-screen mode, and repeat or shuffle. It also supports multiple video file formats in HD so you don’t have to go around looking for a format converter just to watch your videos. The option to control where you’d like to start a video by using the timeline slider is also present, but you can also interact with the screen and toggle the settings just by tapping on it. Swiping the screen can change the brightness and the volume, and either forward the video or go back. You can also play videos from your Google Drive account and Dropbox account, as long as you have an internet connection. Unlike most basic players, however, MX Video Player allows you to trim your videos, alongside the ability to screen-capture. You can cut your most favorite scenes and save them into another storage location, and your screen-captured photos will automatically be saved in your photo gallery. For an even better experience, you can also lock the screen so any unnecessary touch won’t interfere with the video. There’s even an option to stream Youtube videos.

Still Lacking

However, despite the advanced features, MX Video Player doesn’t seem to be a reliable player when in use. It’s prone to crashing while you use it and when the screen sleeps for even just a bit, it already hangs and you need to restart it. The controls rarely respond right for some users. This player is optimized for iOS but it can’t even support AirPlay, despite its other perks with Google, Dropbox, and Youtube. It boasts smoother playback and an audio boost of up to 200%, but while the videos don’t stutter, the app itself struggles to even work straight for a few hours. It’s really a shame because this app supports subtitles and different formats for it, which is uncommon among handheld devices’ media players. It also has a really nice set of themes to go along with its user-friendly interface.

Worth a Shot

Surprisingly, MX Video Player is still a bit popular for such a problem-prone app. Feel free to try this for yourself and see if your device can tame it. However, it’s still recommended to look for much stabler apps that won’t interrupt your streaming.
