Climatic Battle for Earthrealm
Mortal Kombat 11 (also known as MK11) is an action game developed by NetherRealm Studios. The fighting game is part of the whole Mortal Kombat game franchise created by Ed Boon. Players can expect everything from martial arts to magic, ninja, robots, plot-driven battles and the iconic violence.
A Long History of Violence and Martial Arts
NetherRealm Studios is a company purchased by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in 2009. Warner Bros. merged Midway Games with WB Games Chicago to form NetherRealm Studios in 2010 the following year. Most of the intellectual properties owned by Midway Games, including Mortal Kombat, were transferred to Warner Bros. Currently NetherRealm develops fighting games like Injustice 2 and even WWE Immortals. Mortal Kombat has been part of the history of video game. Since its conception in the 90s, it changed the video game industry by introducing the Entertainment Software Rating Board. The cartoony violence which was deemed too realistic from the first Mortal Kombat was too much at that time and caused a moral panic. Its infamous Fatality paved its way to the minds of 90s gamers. Some of the known titles from the game series are Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat X.
A Climatic Continuation
Mortal Kombat 11 takes place after the events of Mortal Kombat X. Shinnok has been defeated by Cassie Cage but the threat of invasion by Netherrealm is still at bay. Earthrealm’s protector and recently corrupted Raiden threatens the remaining loyalists of Shinnok that he will destroy anyone attempting to conquer his dominion. On the other hand, time goddess Kronika plans to erase Raiden for disturbing the timelines and for decapitating her son Shinnok. Old and new timelines will clash at the climactic battle. Players can choose as the remaining cast of the fighting game, from the new batch of Earthrealm heroes to the outlandish Outworld warlords and the undead Netherrealm warriors. The game still remains the same features such as the Variation System, Fatalities, Brutalities and Mercy. X-Ray moves have been replaced with desperate attacks called Fatal Blows. This game introduces cinematic Krushing Blows and punishing Flawless Blocks. The Custom Variation feature allows players to customize their character’s costumes and move lists. Pieces of costumes are found from Story Mode, The Tower, and The Krypt. They also have the choice of pre-ordering the game in order to play as Shao-Kahn, Mortal Kombat’s iconic boss.
Test Your Might
Mortal Kombat 11 expands from the originally established timeline from the 90s into a different story. Former heroes corrupted into villains, dark warriors reformed into human champions and an impending battle is about to happen that will change the fate of all realms.
