An RPG game for Pokemon fans
Monster Duel is an RPG game developed by SoftBean. Pokemon is a massive franchise of games, but nothing will ever surpass the greatness of the first few generations of the series. If you happen to be nostalgic for those old days, Monster Duel has what you need, although it is a bit too close for comfort to the original Pokemon games.
Graphics and Presentation
The graphics and animation of Monster Duel are very good. The animation for the characters can be too repetitive and uncanny at times, but it is completely serviceable. The 3D models for both the characters and the monsters are very well-done. The interface can be a bit cluttered, but it’s understandable since the game has a lot of commands for the players. That being said, the design of the interface itself is very well drawn and pleasant to look at.
Gameplay and Pokemon
The gameplay is very similar to the old Pokemon games. In fact, Monster Duel is pretty much just a complete recreation of the original game down to the characters and the monsters. It just revamped the art and aesthetics a bit. It does add a bit more content such as PVP battles with other players. In the game, your objective is to capture different monsters to build your team and battle other players with them.
Polished, but Unoriginal
Monster Duel is pretty much just the old Pokemon games repurposed into new and modern aesthetics. For people who are looking to relive the nostalgia from the old games, Monster Duel might be worth checking out. However, it might be better to just check out the originals rather than settling for a pale imitation.
