Modo – Computer Music Player Review
Modo is a free multimedia application available on the Android platform developed by Bastian Pflieger. This app allows users to playback 8-bit and 16-bit computer music on the go. It supports various file formats, including tracker modules, Commodore C64, Nintendo, Sega Mega Drive/Master System, Atari/Amstrad CPC/Spectrum, and Msx/PC-Engine.
To use the app, simply copy your tunes on your SD card/internal memory, open Modo, browse to the directory, and touch the file. The app comes with features such as sleep timer, shuffle, loop, volume boost, and HVSC #63 song length database built-in. It also supports zip file browsing. However, it requires more RAM, so it’s not recommended to use in low memory situations as the player is more prone to get killed because of the bigger memory footprint.
The playlists are stored in the internal storage of the phone using SQLite3+. Google cloud backup support is implemented, and if your phone is rooted, you can backup the app data by using Titanium Backup.
